This week, Jefferson County issued a mask mandate for all public and private facilities where people gather. These are challenging times aren’t they? How should we as the church respond? Our Elders have and continue to prayerfully consider this issue. Below are several links to articles that address some of the considerations the Elders have prayed through.
While we will surely have some disagreement on this issue, let’s choose to pursue an Ephesians 4:3 kind of unity, having…. “all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Let’s not let a mask mandate create division and get in the way of the advancement of our mission.
Beginning this weekend, SCC will be posting “Please Wear a Mask” signs and we would encourage you to wear a mask while inside the building.
Be assured we are in regular contact with the county. We would encourage you, as well, to graciously express your thoughts to county officials.
We appreciate your continued prayers. May the Lord use Southwest Community Church during this time for His glory.
