Hello dear friends,

Stay tuned for our June prayer letter in the next week or two. In the meantime, we covet your prayers for Noah. He got sick again on Sunday, same symptoms that brought on last month’s evacuation. Mainly because of his inability to eat more than a few bites at a time, we had been planning to travel to Bamako tomorrow morning (Friday) to seek further testing. This afternoon (Thursday), his abdominal pain localized and took a sudden turn for the worse. We ended up at the Kankan hospital tonight and the surgeon on duty all but confirmed appendicitis. They pumped Noah full of paracetamol (Tylenol) and some antibiotic and sent him home for the night as they aren’t able to do an ultrasound until the morning. We are to return to the Kankan hospital at 9am tomorrow (Friday) for further testing and, we assume, an appendectomy.

Please pray for good, gentle, and clean care at the hospital tomorrow. Pray for clarity, wisdom, and compassion to rule over Noah’s medical care. Ask for Jesus’ protection over him, and that His hand would bring healing to Noah’s body. Pray too for peace for all in our family, and especially for Noah who is hurting and tired and thus much more fearful than his usual courageous self.

You can also praise God with us for a servant-hearted Guinean friend with connections at the hospital, and for caring and prayerful teammates and colleagues helping us through this!

In HIS care,

Katie & David

David & Katie Hayward are serving with the same mission in the same location where Bryan and I were in the Republic of Guinea. It's an all day drive on very bumpy roads in terrible heat this time of year. While the Kankan hospital is normally avoided at all costs, traveling with acute appendicitis is out of the question. PLEASE PRAY for wisdom, sterile conditions and that God would supernaturally guide the hands of the surgeon!! David & Katie have 4 children and Noah is their second child.
