The King’s Children Family Theatre Ministry is a theatre ministry based right here at Southwest! For the young and the young at heart, we are calling all lovers of theatre ages 9 to 99 to join us this fall on and off the stage! We will be producing Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island!

Each rehearsal will open with prayer and a review of our rules and expectations, followed by warm-ups. For five weeks we will learn the essentials of acting and play production, develop in the disciplines of the stage, build our community, write scripts, and more. Beginning week 6 we will work on scenes, blocking, and prop and set production. Each week we will share a short snack break and a devotional that encourages us to learn from the art of acting as well as themes from the play.

Rehearsals will be Thursday evenings from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. for 12 weeks starting August 8 and ending with our performances on October 25 and 26. A bonus dress rehearsal is planned for TUESDAY, October 22.

Space is limited. Registration opens June 20. Cost is $50 per child and 12 hours of parent volunteer time will be required in addition to backstage support for one of our two performances. A contract covering expectations will be signed by parents and registered children on our first evening together. Register by July 25 to secure your spot and receive a script on time!
