Journey of Prayer

Thank you for being willing to go on a Journey of Prayer with us. Our goal is to grow in prayer together as we seek our great God, for the month of February.

Biblical Encouragement

Verse for today: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

A couple weeks ago, we considered this verse when looking at our church core value of Global Witness. Spend some time seeking the Lord and asking Him to empower you to be a strong witness for Him….wherever you go. Pray that you will respond when opportunities arise for you to tell others about Jesus.

Prayers for the Church
Note: These are current and/or ongoing ways to pray for the church. Many of these will stay here for the month. Others will likely be added. Pick one or two to pray for each day or, pray for them all if you have the time!

To pray for some the ongoing items from the previous days, look back at yesterday’s post. For today, in light of our verse, let’s focus on praying for our Global Workers. Here are two of our global worker family to remember in prayer:

  • Mike & Carol Beth Sprenger – pray for the Lord’s presence in their lives, as the grieve the loss of Mike’s brother, Keith, who recently went to be with the Lord. Pray for Mike as he serves part-time at SCC as the Director of Missions & Care, while also continuing to serve in missions with Reach Global.
  • Nathanael & Lizzy Lawton – The Global Outreach (GO) Team recently approved the Lawton’s as full-time global workers. The Lawton’s will be in Spokane Washington for the next 2-3 years where Nathanael will be training future missionary pilots and mechanics. Pray for them as they begin this new adventure in missions.

Personal

  • Keep praying for that friend or family member that you have chosen to pray for during this month.
  • Keep praying for your neighborhood, school, and/or your workplace. Ask God to begin to soften hearts in those areas where you spend most of your time.
  • If you are a family, gather together and just pray over Acts 1:8. Ask God to use your family as bold witnesses for Him and for His glory.
