Today the team spent the day in Nairobi with HEART ministries and visited some of their women’s health and education centers in the Kibera slum. We were able to use some of the fundraising from the trip to purchase food for 16 of the women and give it to them in person. After eating a meal together, we visited the homes of three of the women and were able to see where and how they lived. The visits meant a lot to these women and we were able to pray over their homes and families. They also provided a very sobering perspective as their living conditions are some of the worst in the world and the average home size we visited was around 140 sq ft, where anywhere from 6-8 individuals live, eat, and sleep.
Tomorrow the team will head back to the airport in the morning for a short flight to Kisumu and then a 2 hour drive to Kisii. We will be visiting a local church there shepherded by Wilson Atambo and spending time with him and his congregation over the next few days. Please pray for continued safety and blessings during our travel as well as wisdom and discernment with our conversations and our ministry time. Pray that we are led by the Spirit in all things and that we can love and encourage everyone we meet.
