On Friday morning, the team travelled from Nairobi to Kisumu on a short flight and then drove to Kisii. Shortly after arriving and after a lunch with Pastor Wilson Atambo, we headed to a small village outside of Kisii to meet and spend some time with Nyamani Joash who is planting small family and home churches throughout Kenya. Joash was one of the first people that Eric met in Kenya and the reason for his first visit there. It was good to reconnect with him and his family. We were able to pray and discuss his ministry plans for the future and how we might be able to continue to strengthen and encourage his church and ministry and assist with making disciples and planting churches throughout Kenya.
On Saturday, the team spent the whole day at the church of Pastor Wilson Atambo. The church had just completed a new building after being forced to move off of their previous location due to excessive and unwarranted rate increases on their previous lease. Throughout the day, we met with the women’s ministry, the leadership team, and some of the youth, spending time in discipleship and discussion around Scripture and its application in their lives and ministry contexts. The afternoon ended with a small whole church gathering with prayer, worship, and a short exhortation.
Please pray for the team as Eric will be preaching tomorrow at the church’s main service and the rest of the team will be engaging with the church’s leadership team in the afternoon for additional discipleship and leadership training. On Monday morning, the team will drive three hours from Kisii to Kakamega where we will be ministering in a school, a community gathering, as well as another local church.
